The IELTS Writing section has two tasks:
- Task 1 (Academic: describe charts/maps/processes )
- Task 2 (Essay: give your opinion or discuss an issue)
You have 60 minutes total.
IELTS Writing Task 1
Academic (Charts, Graphs, Tables, Processes, Maps)
You must write at least 150 words.
Purpose: Summarize the information, NOT give your opinion.
IELTS Writing Task 2 (Essay)
Write at least 250 words.
Task 2 is more important than Task 1 (worth double marks).
Common Essay Types
- Opinion (Agree/Disagree)
- Discussion (Both views + your opinion)
- Advantages & disadvantages
- Problem & solution
- Mixed/Double question
